This weekend Jeff and I headed up to the United Sports Training Center for a playdate for our kids. We were taking them to paint plates with another family that has children the same age as ours. When we got to the Pottery Place , I had no idea it would be one of those grown up places where you could paint a nice piece, fire it up in the kiln and end up with a custom made piece. My son picked out a dinosaur from a selection of small items I allowed him to choose from, and I ended up picking a fish for my younger daughter. I have to say, they were really great for 3 1/2 year olds and 19 month olds!! The mommies and daddies ended up painting the second coat on each piece, but it was a fun 20 minutes for the kids.
The Pottery Place offer Ladies Nights where you can bring your own wine and food and paint in a private room. They even offer 10% off if you get a group of 5 or more together. They had a pretty big selection of pottery available - plates, bowls, wine chillers, "piggy" banks, and all sorts of other things. Sounded like a neat idea, so I just wanted to pass it along. For more details, see their website http://www.harmonpottery.com/index.shtml
It’s starting to be that time of year again where you can get bargains for your young children at one of the numerous local events or garage sales. It’s also a good way to get rid of your own outgrown children’s items (if you sign up ahead of time). On Saturday March 29th, the Chester County Mothers of Multiples will be having their Spring consignment sale from 9 am to noon at the United Sports Center off of route 340 in Downingtown. From what I hear, the place gets crowded, so go early! They will be selling clothing, toys, high chairs, beds, strollers, you name it! Visit www.ccmomc.org and click on Clothing Sale link for more details.
I believe the Morgantown Fire Hall has their semi-annual children’s consignment sale that same day, although I haven’t seen anything posted yet. For those of you looking for Children’s items or Maternity wear - have fun shopping!

Ok, now maybe some of the other residents of Wallace and West Nantmeal Townships have heard about J. Maki Winery (a.k.a. French Creek Ridge Vineyards) located off of Route 23 in Elverson, but I hadn’t until I drove by the small sign everyday this week.
World Class? Yes, in fact French Creek Ridge Vineyards’ 1997 Blanc de Blancs Champagne won the 2001 Gold Medal at the Vinalies Internationales Wine Competition in France. How’s that for Chester County Wine Makers!?
Here is an article from Philadelphia Weekly Online “We Are the Champagne-ions!”
