Glenmoore Residents To Start An Adopt-a-Highway Program

For the first official blog post of 2008, we’d like to start out by inviting Glenmoore residents, especially those living along Little Conestoga Road to join us in an Adopt-a-Highway program! We’re exited and already have the application form and now need some fellow citizens to volunteer as well.

I have spoken with the Chester County Coordinator responsible for the PA Adopt-a-Highway program in our area and have learned that Little Conestoga Road is available for adoption between Route 82 and the Marsh Creek Bridge. I was targeting the area of Little Conestoga between Adams and Fairview roads.

Here are some of the specifics:

1. As a group, we must be available to clean the adopted section of road a minimum of 4 times a year for a 2 year period. If we get a large enough group, the same people will not have to go out each time.
2. Safety vests and appropriate signs will be provided by PennDOT.
3. Volunteers must be at least 8 years old. This is a great opportunity for children to learn about community service and keeping our environment clean.
4. Sponsors cannot be affiliated with political party or other similar causes
5. We do not currently have any dates scheduled, we are just seeing the number of families that might be interested in volunteering. Our target number is 8 or more families!

Two road signs will be provided for us with the name of our “group”. We were thinking of listing WestGlenmoore.org as the sponsor on the sign. We currently own and run the WestGlenmoore.org web site and would be able to direct you and others to the site for information about our community. We’re hoping to grow the site into a useful blog and forums for our community.
